The bird has returned to the nest as UK-based FishingMatters acquires Partridge of Redditch from Mustad
Partridge of Redditch has been under the wing of Mustad of Norway for the past thirteen years, however they have decided to sell the brand in order to focus on their core business.
Partridge has 130 years of heritage and can be credited with the invention of modern fly hook manufacture. Wet and dry fly classics are the benchmark hook for fly dressing and Partridge produce the preeminent salmon hook. Sadly in recent years the UK market has been starved of stock with the result that many retailers have sought other brands looking for better stock support - this situation will of course change, with the UK becoming the new distribution centre for Partridge products once again. Fishing Matters has a proven track record of supporting the trade and takes pride in offering a high level of customer service and product compliance.
The international market remains very important to Partridge as do their retailers and distributors so the Fishing Matters team will be working through the markets in the coming months to review the business to better understand their different needs and prepare future development of both product and business.
Fishing Matters’ spokesman Mark Hamnett explained that the Partridge business fits strategically with their existing portfolio of VARIVAS and OWNER as there is little or no duplication of products, enabling them to offer a comprehensive range to UK Game, Carp, Predator and Saltwater anglers alike. “We are arranging for the transfer of stock from Gjøvik, so that UK retailers will be able to get product into their shops in time for the new fly tying season. We have already started to contact existing Partridge stockists and international distributors to ensure that we maintain the continuity of deliveries to the trade so that no one loses out in the transition period.”
